As part of Stop & Shop’s commitment to sustainability, reduce waste, and protect our environment, Stop & Shop offers reusable bags at a fee. This change is part of an overall shift at Stop & Shop to eliminate single-use plastic bags across all operations.

State and Local Ordinances
Stop & Shop may charge customers bag fees based on state and local laws. This depends on where your order is picked up or delivered. The number of bags used will be calculated at the time the order is packed. The bag fee may be based on the number of bags or a flat fee. If based on the number of bags, our associates have been trained to minimize the number of bags to keep this fee as low as possible. The fee will be on your final receipt.

Non-Regulatory Bag Fee May Apply
If there is not a state or local ordinance requiring a bag fee, bag fees will be charged as follows:
Connecticut: A 10¢ taxable charge will be added to your Pickup order for each paper bag used, up to a maximum of $2.00.
New York: A 10¢ taxable charge will be added to your Pickup or a 5¢ taxable charge will be added to your Delivery order for each paper bag used, up to a maximum of $2.00. (In Suffolk county, New York City, White Plains and New Rochelle, the pickup fee is 5¢.)
Massachusetts: A 10¢ taxable charge will be added to your Pickup order for each paper bag used, up to a maximum of $2.00.
New Jersey Orders: Orders picked up or delivered in New Jersey will be charged a $2 cloth reusable bag fee.

EBT
Customers paying any portion of their order with EBT will not be charged a bag fee unless it is required by state or local law. If an EBT customer is required to pay a bag fee per state or local law, the fee will be applied to the alternative method of payment.
